Mildred Nell (nee Young) Love passed away peacefully in her sleep Sunday morning September 21, 2003.

She was ninety years old. She joins her husband of sixty years. ..Walter Ashby Love (1903-1986).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Orville Alva Young (1877-1969) Bessie McCain (1888-1968) and her sister Alice Ione (nee Young) Flue, her brothers, Elmo Neven, James Orville, and Willard A. Young.

Her surviving brother, Clair Eldridge Young lives in Oklahoma City.

Mildred was born in Aransas Pass, Texas. Her family moved to Roger Mills County in 1916. She graduated from Durham High School and attended Business School in Wichita, Kansas. With a marriage proposal from Walter she packed her trunk and took the train to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. They were married June 6, 1936. They moved back to Oklahoma and then on to Phillips, Texas, where Walter was a crane operator until his retirement with Phillips Petroleum Company. ..Upon retirement the couple enjoyed many trips in their travel trailer meeting and adventuring with their many friends and families. After the 1986 explosion at Phillips Petrolleum, they were required to move their house. They chose the Panhandle. From 1988 to 1996 they cared for three grandchildren, Patricia, Michelle and Matthew.

Mildred enjoyed the mysteries of researching genealogy. She found that five members of her paternal family filed on homesteads in what is now Roger Mills County. Also, three of her great uncles served as privates in the Civil War, acting as Indian scouts near Mobeetie, Texas, and another served as guard for the Pony Express. Other ancestors served in the American Revolution 1776-1981).

Mildred Young is survived by daughters: Lotus Bessie Loce Cowell and husband, Aaron Dale Cowell, Sr. (Fredericksburg, Texas). Their children: James Grant Cowell (Dacula, Georgia), Vincent Ray Cowell (Loganville, Georgia), Aaron D. Cowell, Jr. (Charlotte, North Carolina), Scott David Cowell (Ripon, Wisconsin), and Walter Isaac Cowell (Alpharetta, Georgia). Daughter: Laura Katthryn Love Rios (Amarillo, Texas).
