Grover George Hicks was born February 2, 1915 in Roll, Oklahoma to Maud and Henry Hicks. He passed away January 18, 2011 at Conroe, Texas at the age of 95 years, 11 months and 16 days.
Grover attended the Roll one room school and Pie Flat.
He moved to east Texas and began working in the oilfield by moving oil rigs with a 12 mule team and later driving a truck before moving to Tyler, Texas where he began operating heavy equipment constructing highways for Reynolds Land Construction.
After his retirement he moved to New Caney, Texas in 2000 to make his home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and three siblings.
He is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services were held Saturday, January 22, 2011 in Crawford Magnolia Baptist Church with Brother Ron Henning officiating.
Interment followed in the Silent Home Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.
