Samuel M. Elliott was born September 28, 1860 in Hot Springs county, Arkansas and departed this life on February 8, 1938 at his home near Roll, Oklahoma at the age of 77 years, 4 months and 11 days.
At the age of 15 he was united with the Missionary Baptist church at Big Creek, Arkansas and remained a member there until 1926 when he and his wife transferred their membership to the church at Breezy Meadow.
He was united in marriage to Miss Eva C. Merritt June 13, 1900 in Polk County, Arkansas. To this union was child was born one child who died in infancy.
They came to Oklahoma in 1903 and settled on their homestead near Roll where he lived until his death.
He was first stricken with paralysis in 1921. He has been very patient during his illness and has been cared for by his devoted wife through all these years.
His wife has lost a faithful and devoted companion and the community a loyal citizen and friend.
He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, Mrs. Eva C. Elliott; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Mary Farmer; three brothers-in-law, J. H. Merritt, O. H. Farmer and Dr. Byrd of Malvern, Arkansas; and several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held and interment made at Silent Home Cemetery, Roll, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma.
Rev. Fred Wright officiated and the Tunnard Funeral Home was in charge of the burial.
