Charley Davis of Cheyenne, was born February 22, 1905 in Strong City, Oklahoma to Mr. and Mrs. William Garfield Davis and passed from this life on Tuesday, August 17, 1982 in Roger Mills Memorial Hospital, at the age of 77 years, after an extended illness.
Charley grew up in Roger Mills county and lived in the Crawford and Roll communities before moving to Cheyenne in 1975, when he retired from farming.
On, June 30, 1923 he was married to Miss Josie Logan in Strong City. She preceded him in death in 1932.
On June 19, 1962 Mr. Davis and Esther Simpson Montgomery were married in Elk City, Oklahoma.
He was a member of the Church of Christ in the Crawford community and continued to worship there until his health prevented it.
Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife two brothers and one sister.
In addition to his wife, Esther of the home, Charley is survived by four sons, Charley Lavon of Forest Grove, Oregon; Floyd R. of Elk City; Ernest L. of Canadian, Texas; Billy Jo of Ames, Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; three stepchildren, Maxine Williams of Cheyenne; Evelyn Branch of Cheyenne; and Gerald Montgomery of Crawford; thirteen stepgrandchildren; one sister, Gertrude Lucas of Cheyenne; and his twin brother, Harley Davis of Spearman, Texas.
