Austin R. Davis was born August 22, 1895 in Good Hope, Missouri to Rachel Ann and Elmer Henry Davis and died June 5, 1993 in the Roger Mills Memorial Hospital at the age of 97 years.
Austin married Maud Garrison on February 15, 1912 in Ava, Missouri.
They lived in Ava beofre moving to Oklahoma and later back to Missouri before moving to Yale, Oklahoma.
Austin and Maud moved the family to Roger Mills county in 1934 to make their home.
Austin had been a farmer for most of his life and had a passion for raising horses. He had also worked in the oil field as a pipe liner where he traveled extensively around the country.
Austin was also a dealer for the Rawleigh Company.
He had been a member of the Durham United Pentecostal Church since 1956 and had been associated with the Reydon Community Church for the past few years.
He was preceded in death by his wife; one daughter, Ester; four sisters and three brothers.
Services will be 2 p.m., Tuesday at the Crawford School Auditorium officiated by Walker Andrews, and assisted by Alberta Helton.
Interment will be in the Silent Home Cemetery, Roll, Roger Mills County under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service of Cheyenne.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Norma Gene and Nelson Selby of Reydon, Oklahoma; one son and daughter-in-law, Ray L. and Joyce Davis of Pampa, Texas; two sisters, Mina Edwards of Iola, Kansas; and Dora Bales of Monroe, Missouri; four grandchildren, Jacie Ray {Carolyn} Selby of Pampa, Texas; Reta {Eugene} Hall of Clinton, Oklahoma; Roy N. {Bonnie} Selby of Stinnett, Texas; Reba {T.G.} Martin of Concord, North Carolina; seven great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
