Walter Wyatt Brooks, age 68 of 206 W. Lincoln, died Friday in the Sayre, Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.
Memorial services were held Monday at 2:30 p.m. in the Sayre Penticostal Holiness church with Rev. John Hudson and Rev. Bill Putman officiating.
Burial was in the Silent Home Cemetery, Roll, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma with Rose Chapel Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Brooks was born December 16, 1908, in Grimes.
On November 12, 1932 Walter was united in marriage to Georgie Beel Simpson. To this union seven children were born. They include Ester Crandall of Cheyenne; John Henry and George Louis, both of Elk City; and Fred of Houston, Texas.
Charles, James Walter, Norman and wife Georgie Bell preceded him in death.
Mr. Brooks was a long time resident of Cheyenne having raised his entire family in Cheyenne.
In 1970 Walter married Eva Wickham and moved to Poteau, Oklahoma. In 1976 they moved to Sayre, Oklahoma where they were living at the time of his death.
Others preceding him in death include his parents, John and Rena Brooks; two sisters, Annie and Estell; and two grandchildren.
Survivors are his wife, Eva of the home; one daughter Esther Crandall of Cheyenne; three sons, John Henry and George Brooks, both of Elk City; Fred of Houston, Texas; twelve grandchildren; one great grandchild; one brother, Allen W. Brooks of Lexa, Arkansas; three sisters, Helena Mabra of Corpus Christi, Texas; Evelyn Gessler of Santa Monica, California; and Jewell Emerson of Amarillo, Texas.
