Mabel Penny Briggs was born August 16, 1889 in Newton Kansas, the daughter of Lon and Maggie Penny and died June 4 in the Autumn Care Manor, Borger, Texas.
She married Robert Briggs August 8, 1906. Three sons were born to this union, Oscar, Orvil and Charles.
She raised a nephew, Carl Githens and two grandchildren, Jim and Joyce Briggs.
Most of her early life was spent around Roll and Durham, Roger Mills county, Oklahoma and later they moved to Canadian and ran a store. After he husband's death she moved to Borger to be close to her sister.
After a fall in her home in 1979 she moved to the nursing home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, one brother and two sons.
Survivors include one son, Charles of Brenham, Texas; one sister, Maude Hutson of Duncan; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the Silent Home Cemetery with A. L. Martin officiating under direction of Rose Chapel funeral home of Cheyenne.
