Funeral services for Edith May Hyer Blaylock will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, in the Magnolia Baptist Church in Crawford with Lloyd Martin officiating.
Edith May Hyer was born March 5, 1914 in Strong City, the daughter of Benjamin Joshua and Icy Angeline Jones Hyer, and died May 9, in the Cheyenne Memorial Hospital at the age of 76.
She attended schools in Strong City and Cheyenne. She attended college at Panhandle State College in Goodwell, graduating with a B. A. in Education in 1938.
She married Dudley Blaylock on March 27, 1943 in Mangum.
They moved to Arnett from Hammon that same year.
Mrs. Blaylock taught at several towns, including Hammon and Catesby and at Crawford for 18 years before retiring in 1974.
She belonged to the Roll Quilting Club and the Roger Mills County Retired Teacher's Association and Delta Kappa Gamma.
Mrs. Blaylock's religious preference was Presbyterian.
Her hobbies were quilting, crocheting, reading, gardening and playing with her granddaughters.
Mrs. Blaylock is survived by her husband, Dudley of Arnett; one son, D. H. and his wife, Janet also of Arnett; two granddaughters, Janel and Julie Blaylock of Arnett; one brother, James Arthur Hyer of Sweetwater, Texas; and one sister, Winnie Lee Fairchild of Mesa, Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.
Burial will be in Silent Home Cemetery, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Savage Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Minnie R. Slief Library Fund in Cheyenne, Oklahoma.
