Ruby Jewel Moore McKay

Ruby Jewel Moore McKay, daughter of William Preston and Myrtle Moore, was born October 24, 1917, in the Canadian community northwest of Leedey, Oklahoma. She passed from this life Sunday, May 2, 1992, in Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of seventy four years, six months, and eight days.
Ruby attended the Canadian Rural School near her home, then the Liberty Center High School where she completed her education.
On January 7, 1937, Ruby Jewel Moore and George McKay were united in marriage at Cheyenne, Oklahoma. Two sons, Douglas E. and Randall L. were born to Ruby and George McKay.
Their home was first established in Colorado, where they lived for five years, at this time, 1942, they moved to California. Following a residency of many years in California, the returned to Leedey in 1986, where they spent their remaining years.
Mr. McKay preceded his beloved wife in death by one month and five days.
Through the many years of their marriage, Mrs. McKay was primarily a homemaker, loving and caring for her home and family. In addition to her home duties, she also became an employee of the Federal Mogal Rubber Company of Downey, California, serving this company as supervisor of operations for a period of several years.
Mrs. McKay was a member of the Bell Gardens Senior Citizens Club, and enjoyed all arts and crafts including painting and sewing. In addition to these several activities, she loved fishing, camping, and traveling. Bowling was her favorite hobby and she demonstrated this skill by winning several bowling tournaments.
She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and a kind caring friend and neighbor.
Mrs. McKay was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Moore; her husband, George McKay; one son, Douglas E. McKay; two sisters, Ethel Williams and Daisy Moore; and five brothers, Willis F. Tony D., Claude, Sidney and Jessie Moore.
She is survived by one son, Randall L. McKay of Norco, California; two grandsons, Wade McKay and Mark McKay; one sister, Lillie Wagner of Leedey; and one brother, Dennis Moore of Denver, Colorado; also two nieces and two nephews; other loved ones and many friends.
Burial in Shirley Cemetery near Leedey.
