Clystia Marie Weast Harrel, daughter of Thomas D. and Irene B. Smith Weast, was born on January 16, 1913 at Leedey, Oklahoma and passed from this life at her home 12 miles northwest of Leedey, Oklahoma on February 13, 2004. She was 91 years and 28 days of age at the time of her death.
Clystia attended grade school at Liberty Center and graduated high school at Leedey Public Schools. She lived in the Leedey area all of her life.
On May 20, 1933 she married a young cowboy by the name of Hugh J. Harrel at the county court house in Cheyenne, Oklahoma. Three children were born to this union, G. W., Janice and Doneta.
The family made their home on the ranch known as the Bar X. The couple was married for 65 years before Hugh passed away in May of 1998.
Clystia loved her family and wanted nothing more than to care for them on the ranch as a housewife, loving mother, farmer and rancher.
She enjoyed painting, gardening, cooking and was a member of the Leedey Rodeo Club and was a 50-year member of the Canadian Club.
Special times she enjoyed were dancing with her late husband at the senior citizens dances, attending ballgames; and not only watching their grandchildren, but all the area children play sports. She and Hugh received the Bison Sports Fan Award and she received numerous awards at her county fair for canning and painting.
She was a member of the Leedey United Methodist Church.
Those preceding Clystia in death include her husband, Hugh J. Harrel; her parents, Thomas and Irene Weast; a grandson, Jason Harrel; three sisters, Essie Bottoms, Lessie Utler and Alpha Haynes; and two brothers, Marvin Weast and Dr. Lloyd Williams.

Harrel and wife Karen of Leedey, Oklahoma; Janice Harrel of Yukon, Oklahoma; and Doneta Nichols and husband Terry of Elk City, Oklahoma; twelve beloved grandchildren; a number of great grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews, other family and a host of friends.
