Daniel Melvin Damron, two-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel V. Damron of Herring, was injured fatally late Thursday when he wandered onto the Santa Fe railroad track near his home and was struck by a motor car.
The baby was pronounced dead on arrival at a hospital here.
Members of the family said the baby wandered from its home near the tracks at around dusk Thursday, and apparently the lone occupant of the motor car, used by railroad employee in track maintenance, failed to see the child.
Funeral services were being held at 3:00 p.m. Friday at the Pentecostal Holiness church of Hammon with Reverend Mooney officiating.
Burial was to be in the Red Hill cemetery at Hammon.
The baby, born June 20, 1940, in Elk City, is survived by his parents; a grandmother, Mrs. Algin Damron of Hammon; and Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Taylor, grandparents of Cheyenne.
Grubitz and Son funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
