Laura Rae Parman Butler, 71 years old, died Wednesday, June 28, 2000.

Services were held in the Spearman, Texas First United Methodist church with the Reverend Weldon Rives officiating.

Burial was in the Hansford County Cemetery, under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.

Mrs. Butler was born in Cheyenne, Oklahoma.

She had lived in Spearman, Texas for 49 years, moving from Clovis, New Mexico.

She had worked as a secretary for Hansford County Extension office and the county agriculture Stabilization and Conservation office. Later, she worked as a legal secretary, a secretary for Excel Chevrolet Olds, and as a bookkeeper for Skinner Farms. She retired in 1977.

Mrs. Butler was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Laura Rae was the youngest child, daughter of the late Homer and Daisy Parman of Reydon, Oklahoma.

She married Earnest J. "Butch" Butler in 1949 in Wheeler, Texas. He died in 1993.

Survivors include three sons, Edward J. Butler of San Angelo, Texas; Richard C. Butler of Gardendale, Texas; and James G. Butler of Wilburton, Oklahoma; one sister, Irene Beirschmidt of Alva, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren and numerous friends.

The family suggests memorial be made to The American Lung Association.
