Jewel Beatrice Roberts

24 Aug 1916
Submitted by: Wanda Purcell

On Sunday, August 13, 1916 the death Angel came and took little Beatrice away from her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Joseph Roberts of north of Sweetwater.
She was born April 20, 1906 and was 10 years, 3 months and 24 days of age.
Beatrice was sick only nine days. She died after an operation for appendicitis.
There was no struggling, no agony, she closed her eyes and passed away, singing, "Tis so Sweet to trust in Jesus."
Her sinless soul passed from earth to God who gave her and now rests in paradise with the redeemed who have gone before. Jesus said, "Suffer little children to come unto Me and forbid them not, for such is the kingdom of Heaven."
Then are we not justified in saying that little Beatrice has entered the Pearly Gates of Paradise where there is no sorrow, no pain nor heartaches. Oh, to that fond father and mother it would be almost inhumanly cruel to ask you not to believe, for your hearts are bowed down with sorrow and you can not restrain the tears of grief, but let us remember that Jesus doth make all things well, and that He had a purpose in taking your darling Beatrice from you.
We should endeavor to bow meekly and submissively to His will, for the Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away. Blessed be the name of the Lord.
Burial was in Mulberry cemetery, Roger Mills county.
