James Wilburn "Wib" Alexander was born April 26, 1903 in Jamestown, Tennessee and passed away March 14, 1990 in the Elk City Community Hospital at the age of 86 years, 10 months and 16 days.
Wib, the son of James Marcus and Katherine Alexander moved with his parents to Texas in 1906.
On February 21, 1926 he married Cynthia Mamie Barker in Wheeler, Texas and they lived in the Doxey and Meridian communities before moving to Carlsbad and Roswell, New Mexico. They later lived in Cooper, Texas until May of 1969 when they moved to Sayre to make their home.
He had been a member of the Baptist Church and was a member of the Erick Masonic Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and eighteen brothers and sisters.
He is survived by four daughters, Georgia Nell Hardy of Cooper, Texas; Clara Jo Coffey of Wildorado, Texas; Emma Jean Wendt of Fairport, New York; Mary Lou Kendrick of Sayre, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Saturday, March 17, 1990 at the Sweetwater First Assembly of God Church at 2:30 p.m. with C. R. Tucker and J. M. Ashley officiating. Burial was in the Mulberry Cemetery, Sweetwater, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service of Sayre.
