Laveta May Woods Whitson, daughter of William “Bill” and Lena (Thompson) Habekott was born March 28, 1936 at Peek, OK. and passed from this life at the age of eighty-three on April 9, 2019 at Woodward, OK.

Laveta grew up in the Ioland community with five sisters and one brother near the South Canadian river where she was baptized as a teenager. She attended elementary school at the Ioland country school and high school at Arnett, Ok. graduating with the class of 1953.

On December 23, 1955, at the home of her parents, Laveta was united in marriage to Carl Edward Woods. Two sons, Carl William and Donnie Ray and one daughter, Brenda Kaylene blessed their home. They lived in San Clemente, CA. until Ed was discharged from the service in 1957 then made their home in Cheyenne, OK. Following the loss of Ed in 1969, Laveta married Raymond Whitson and one son, Cody Lee, was born to this union.

Laveta was a nature lover and enjoyed bird watching and gardening, crafts were a special past time. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother whose memory will be cherished.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Lena Habekott, her husband, Ed Woods, her son, Cody Lee Whitson and a sister, Wanda Nuttall.

Survivors include her children, Carl Woods and wife Lisa of Cheyenne, OK, Donnie Woods and wife Vicky of Woodward, OK and Brenda Williams and husband Danny Joe of Arnett, OK. Eleven grandchildren, Misti and Andrew Morris, Jesse and Ladonna Williams, Kayla and Matt Nichols, Clint and BrettChari Williams, James and Morgan Williams, Michael and Anna Woods, Malachi and Kaci Martin, Emerson Martin, Elizabeth and Tony Carrillo, Rachel Martin and Joshua Whitson along with twenty-two great grandchildren. Her sisters, Billie Boyer of Mt. View, OK., Betty Whitson of Burns Flat, OK., Tawanda Rhodes of Carnegie, OK. and Shirley Barker of Pampa, TX., her brother, Roger Habekott and wife Phyllis of Seiling, OK., numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be made to the BCA or St. Judes in care of Shaw Funeral Home, P.O. Box 276, Vici, OK 73859.
