Sallie Payola Dykes Dewey was born April 9, 1904 in Lewisville, Kenturcky and passed away June 11, 1987 in the Palo Pinto General Hospital in Mineral Wells, Texas at the age of 8 years, 2 months and 2 days.
Sallie, the daughter of Natha and Easter Gose Dykes, moved to Oklahoma with her parents in a covered wagon at the age of 9 years old. She later moved to Washington for 2 years, before moving back to the Cheyenne area until moving to Santo, Texas where she has lived the last 10 years.
She had been a member of the Cheyenne First Baptist Church for a number of years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, J. N. Dewey, four brothers and one sister.

She is survived by two daughters, Syvlia Bandy of Santo, Texas and Emma Nussbaum of Raymond, Washington; one son, Buster Miller of Strong City, Oklahoma; one sister, Bessie Conway of Raymond, Washington; fourteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
 
Pallbearers were Joe Whitson, Howard Beavin, Eugene Ormand, Bob Cogburn, Emmett Morris and Wesley Conway. Honorary Pall bearers were Jimmy Beavin, Lloyd Martin and Manford Bonds.
