Funeral services for pioneer resident of Roger Mills county, Joe Lee Cole, 78, were conducted on Wednesday, October 12 at 2:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Cheyenne.
Joe Lee Cole was born August 28, 1905 in Carrol County, Arkansas to William Silas and Ollie Cole.
He departed this life Saturday morning, October 8, 1983 in the Roger Mills Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Cole came to Roger Mills county in 1907 with his parents. The family resided west of Cheyenne.
On November 8, 1935, Lee married Odeca Morton. The couple has lived in this area since their marriage.
Lee was self-employed In construction work.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Clinton.
Preceding Mr. Cole in death were his parents, one son and one sister.
Survivors include his wife, Odeca of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Leroy Allen of Cheyenne; one son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Sue Cole of Torrance, California; four grandsons, Randy Cole, Gary, Mike and Keith Allen; two great granddaughters, Tifaney and Kayla Allen; one brother, Delmer Cole of Florence, Alabama; five sisters, Lula Blann and Maud Myers of Cheyenne; Ruby Southern of Salinas, California; Mamie Moore of Sunland, California; Ila Lozer of Amarillo, Texas; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Bob Barton, Ike Lucas, Ervie Porter, Joe Whitson, A. D. Daniels and Gary Leonard.
Interment was in the Cheyenne Cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Services of Cheyenne.
