Deryl Lavern Coker

Deryl Lavern Coker was born September 7, 1931 in Cheyenne, Oklahoma to Lilliebelle and Roy Coker.
He passed away October 30, 2000 in the University Hospital of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma after an extended illness. He lived 69 years, 1 month and 23 days.
Deryl grew up in Roger Mills county. He graduated from Cheyenne High School in 1950 and later from Oklahoma A&M University.
While there he met and married Peggy Fern Averett at Clovis, New Mexico on January 22, 1954.
They resided in Levelland and Farwell, Texas where he worked as the County Extension Agent for ten years before moving to Cheyenne in 1964 to make their home.
He was a member of Cheyenne First Baptist Church.
His parents and his wife preceded him in death.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Tonya and L. G. Alig of Okarche, Oklahoma; two sons and daughters-in-law, Doyle and Marcia Coker and Dewayne and Dayna Coker, all of Reydon, Oklahoma; one brother, Dow Coker of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Jennifer and Jeremiah Alig, Nicole Fees and husband Patrick, Julie Coker, Matt Coker, Brian Coker, and Kassie Meador and husband, Brent; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
The casket will be closed at the funeral service. Friends may view at the funeral home until 9 a.m. Thursday morning.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Cheyenne.
Services will be held November 2, 2000 at 2:00 a.m. at Cheyenne First Baptist Church, with Terrell Romberg officiating.
Burial will follow in Cheyenne Cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.
