In 1972 she was elected Roger Mills Pioneer Woman of the C & A Country to serve until 1977.
Mrs. Chalfant taught music for more than 50 years and participated in the music of the Methodist Church since she was 12 years of age.
Mr. and Mrs. Chalfant were very instrumental in getting a library for Cheyenne, and she has served as Trustee for the Western Plains Library Service for 5 years.
