Viola V. Cotton Benton, 84, of Sweetwater, died Wednesday, May 27, 1987 at the Sayre Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the First Buffalo Baptist Church with Dennis Surber officiating.
Burial followed in the Brookside Cemetery, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel of Sayre.
Mrs. Benton, daughter of Columbus and Martha Cotton, was born January 14, 1903 in Marshall, Arkansas.
She moved with her parents to Sayre as a child.
She married Willard E. Benton September 25, 1920 in Sayre. They moved to a farm north of Cotton's store in 1931. In 1945 they moved north of Buffalo.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Buffalo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two brothers.
Survivors are one daughter, Betty Sites of Sweetwater; two sons, Buddy Benton of Spearman, Texas; Alan Benton of Modesto, California; seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two brothers, Ernest Cotton of Sarasota, Florida; Van Cotton of Sweetwater; and one sister, Jenevive Pope of Sweetwater.
