Polly Puryear Wood

Polly Puryear Wood was born February 3, 1873, at Farmersville, Texas, and passed away March 5, 1969 in Cheyenne, Oklahoma at the age of 96 years, a month, and 2 days.
She was the daughter of John and Mary Puryear.
She came to Oklahoma in 1890 with her parents.
She received part of her education at Duncan, Oklahoma and was one of western Oklahoma pioneer school teachers.
Polly was married to Charles A. Wood May 5, 1901 at Berlin, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death in 1950.
She and Mr. Wood had lived in the Grimes and Sunny Point community since 1901 and were engaged in farming and ranching.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Emma Spencer of Sayre, Oklahoma; Mrs. Kate Bowman of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; and one son, C. A. Wood of Grimes Oklahoma; one nephew she reared, Robert M. Poore of Sacramento, California; and one grandson, Robert A. Wood of Elk City, Oklahoma.
Her pioneer spirit and courage gave strength to her many friends and relatives.
Her parents, four brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.
Interment in Berlin Cemetery, Berlin, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma.
