Submitted by: Wanda Purcell

John Henry Sandusky, age 82 years, 8 months and 9 days, departed this life February 14, 1953 at 4:17 p.m. in Sayre hospital at Sayre, Oklahoma.
Mr. Sandusky was born October 5, 1870 in Unionville, Putnam county, Missouri and was married September 2, 1892 to Eunice Murphy at Unionville, Missouri.
To this union was born two sons and two daughters who were at his bedside during his last illness.
Those surviving him are his wife, Eunice Sandusky of the home address; daughters, Mrs. Anna Dodd of Wellston, Oklahoma; Mrs. Maude Richerson of Sayre, Oklahoma; sons, W. J. Sandusky and J. E. Sandusky of Kingfisher, Oklahoma; brothers, S. S. and H. E. Sandusky of Colorado Springs, Colorado; C. E. Sandusky of Hohme, Colorado; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Van Dyke of Union, Missouri; other than the immediate family seven grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his relatives, Sandusky will be both missed and long remembered by a host of loyal friends in his community which is scarcely equalled by any community for their thoughtfulness and consideration for others.
Mr. Sandusky came to Oklahoma in April 1901, homesteaded a farm eight miles north of Sayre, built a house for the family then returned to Missouri and brought the family a few months later and remained on this homestead until his death.
He was a devoted husband and father, a member of the Church of Christ at Berlin for many years.
He served as Inspector of the election board of his precinct since statehood.
He was an officer of the Belmont School Board until it was consolidated with the Berlin School District.
After a long life of honest and unselfish service he realized his work was finished. His devoted wife who had been his loving helpmate for more than half a century was by his bedside to the last fleeting breath, when the Savior accompanied him across the valley to that Home prepared for the faithful as He tells us in the 14th chapter of St. John there to await that final Family Reunion described by Paul in the 15th Chapter of 1st Corinthians.
Funeral services were conducted in the Church of Christ at Berlin at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 17, 1953 by Brother Reginal Beaver.
Interment in the Berlin cemetery with Scroggins Funeral directors assisted by Tom Kent.
His grandsons served as pall bearers.
