John Ransom Robbins

John Ransom Robbins was born February 28, 1870 in Lee County, Virginia, and died January 14, 1947 in Los Angeles, California.
He spent his childhood in Virginia and came to Oklahoma territory while a young man, taught school in eastern Oklahoma for a number of years and came to western Oklahoma and filed on his homestead nine miles southwest of Cheyenne, where he resided and raised a family, until 1937 when he went to California.
He raised three daughters and one son who preceded him in death.
He was well known all over the county, having served as county commissioner in 1913.
He was also well known for his very active work in the Farmers Union.
He leaves his three daughters, Lillie Ostrander, Pearl Parker and Ruth Gambill, all of Los Angeles; five grandchildren; and numerous friends.

John R. Robbins died at his home January 14, 1947 from a sudden heart attack while seated in his favorite chair.
Mr. Robbins was born in Virginia and came to western Oklahoma and filed on a 160 acre farm in Roger Mills County nine miles south of Cheyenne where he resided until ten years ago.
He reared three daughters, Lillie Robbins Ostrander, Pearl Robbins Parker and Ruth Robbins Gambill.
One son, Eugene preceded him in death and is buried in the Berlin cemetery, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma.
He is remembered by all old timers in Roger Mills and Beckham counties.
Burial was in Berlin cemetery, Berlin.
