Mary Ann Duke Matthews - - Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Ann Matthews, 507 North Fifth, Sayre, who died Saturday, July 4, 1958 at the Cheyenne convalescent hospital following an extended illness were held Wednesday, July 8, 1958 at the Berlin school auditorium. Rev. Dick Robinson and Rev. Nath Franks officiated.
Born April 5, 1875, in Alabama, Mrs. Matthews was married July 19, 1893 to James William Matthews at Reagan, Texas.
They moved to Oklahoma from Texas in 1898 and to the Berlin community in 1912. She moved to Sayre in 1953 where she made her home.
A member of the Berlin Baptist church, she was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Theodore; and three infants.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Ethel Sandusky of Sayre; Mrs. Tyna Latham of Glendale, California; Mrs. Thelma Carson of South Gate, California; Mrs. Edith Baker of Sayre; five sons, Nolan of Selma, California; Ray of Canadian, Texas; Claude and Orland of California; and Monroe of Sayre; thirty seven grandchildren and forty five great grandchildren.
Committal was in Berlin cemetery, Berlin, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma with Scroggins Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
