John Wesley Marshall was born to Sylvester and Fannie Marshall December 9, 1877 in Ottawa county, Kansas and departed this life April 22, 1961 at the age of 83 years, 4 months and 13 days in the Sayre Hospital after being injured in an accident the day before.
When a small boy, he moved with his parents to Missouri and in 1899 he came to Oklahoma and in 1900 he filed on his present homestead and has lived in this community since that time.
He was married to Sarah Elizabeth Robbins on December 2, 1907 at Poteau, Oklahoma. To this union were born five children, two sons and three daughters.
He was baptized into the Church of Christ early in life.
He was preceded in death by his wife; one daughter and two brothers.
Survivors are two sons, Edward of Dempsey; and Clarence of Berlin; two daughters, Lorene Redfern of Portland, Oregon; Loudene Powers of Dos Palos, California; one step-daughter, Leslia Winters of Portland, Oregon; three brothers, Henry of Elk City, Oklahoma; Sylvester of San Diego, California; Dennis of Berlin; one sister, Frances Lavander of Ardmore, Oklahoma; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; as well as other relatives and friends.
