Funeral services for Homer Allen Green were held Monday, September 14, 2009 from Martin Funeral Chapel in Elk City, Oklahoma with Rev. Danny Ringer officiating. Interment followed in the Berlin Cemetery, Berlin, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Elk City.
Homer Allen Green was born December 19, 1923 near Canute, Oklahoma to James Daniel and Alta Mae Hunt Green and passed away Saturday, September 12, 2009 at the age of 85 years.
He attended Needmore School and then graduated from Cheyenne High School.
Homer served his country in the US Army Air Force from 1943 until his discharge in 1945.
He was married to Elsie Ann Harrington on September 6, 1947.
Homer farmed for awhile and then went to Chicago where he attended Coyne Electric School and then returned to western Oklahoma where he worked on the B-Line installing electric service in rural areas. He moved to Oklahoma City where he worked for an electric company for a while and then worked for Lee Way Freight. They returned to western Oklahoma where he managed a dairy farm, they moved to Berlin and he owned and operated a Western Auto Store in Cheyenne.
He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Elks Lodge and a longtime member of the Nazarene Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers, one sister and a great grandson.
Survivors include his wife, Elsie Green of the Berlin home; two sons, Warren Allen Green and his wife Marilyn of Amarillo, Texas; and Harley James Green and his wife, Ronda of Weatherford, Oklahoma; two sisters, Madge Erwin of Wheeler, Texas and Nettie Sprowls of Sayre, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
