Essie Marie Bales Blackburn

Essie Marie Bales Blackburn was born December 2, 1901 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Katie Clara and George Henry Bales and passed away March 24, 1995 in the Sayre Memorial Hospital at the age of 93 years, 3 months, and 22 days.
She moved with her parents west of Berlin, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma as a baby.
She married Earnest Williams on December 14, 1918.
They lived in the Berlin community and to this union three children were born, Henry, Sandford and Lomettia.
They owned and operated the Williams Feed Mill while Essie was postmaster for the Berlin post office for 25 years.
Earnest passed away in February of 1931 with typhoid fever.
Essie married Frank Schwer August 1, 1943 in Sayre and they continued to live in the Berlin community where they ran the Feed Mill and farmed until 1965 when they moved to Sayre.
Frank passed away in January of 1978.
Essie married Robert Blackburn on April 11, 1982 in Sayre, where they continued to live and make their home.
She was a member of the Sayre Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Earnest Williams, Frank Schwer and Robert Blackburn; one son, Sandford; two brothers; two sisters and one grandson.
She is survived by one son, Henry and Mildred Williams of Weatridge, Colorado; one daughter, Lomettia and Donald Winkleblack of Boulder, Colorado; one grandson, Phil Williams of Arvada, Colorado; one granddaughter, Deborah Sterling of Arvada, Colorado; and Sherry Ann Winkleblack of Littleton, Colorado; one sister, Ruby Burkhalter of Sayre, Oklahoma; and one brother, Charles Bales of Sayre, Oklahoma; five great grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
Services were March 27, 1995 at the Sayre Church of Christ officiated by Kevin Ballard.
Interment was in the Berlin Cemetery, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.
