Nellie Ann Atwood Barnes, age 98, Sayre, Oklahoma passed away Monday, December 21, 1987.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 23, 1987 at 2:30 p.m. at the Sayre Church of Christ with Eddie Beard officiating. Burial was in the Berlin Cemetery, Berlin, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Services of Sayre.
Nellie, the daughter of Charles and Isabelle Atwood was born May 13, 1889 in Newton, Missouri.
She moved with her parents to the Berlin community in 1898.
She married James Harrison Barnes April 28, 1907 at Berlin, Oklahoma.
In 1920 they moved to Springfield, Colorado, in 1930 they moved to Berlin and moved to Sayre in 1956 to make their home.
She was a member of the Sayre Church of Christ for a number of years.
Nellie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son-in-law, Jim Zeigler; two brothers and one sister.
She is survived by three daughters, Gertrude Zeigler of Anthony, Kansas; Faye Heim and husband, Raymond of Hamhurst, Texas; Nelona Campbell and husband, Chubb of Sayre; three sons, John and wife Jewell of Wichita, Kansas; Hobert and wife, Ann New Haven, Connecticut; Norman and wife Roma of McLoud, Oklahoma; fourteen grandchildren and twenty six great grandchildren.
