Charles William Bales

Charles William Bales was born November 14, 1907 in Berlin, Oklahoma to Katie C. and George Henry Bales. He passed away April 11, 2001 in Sayre, Oklahoma at the age of 93 years 4 months and 27 days.
Charles attended school at Pleasant Valley and New Liberty.
He married Beatrice W. Millington east of Berlin on November 5, 1944 at the home of Chester and Fay Millington.
They made their home west of Berlin where Charles started farming at the age of 14. Charles was proud of the fact that he had started his first bank account at the age of 12 and was one of the oldest depositors in the bank. He lived from the days of plowing with horses to the space age.
He had an extensive arrowhead collection that he collected from his farm.
Charles was a member of the Berlin Roundup Club for over 25 years and had served on the Berlin School Board for 8 years.
He loved to hunt and lived on his family's homeplace until November of 1992 when they moved to Sayre to make their home.
He was a member of the Berlin Church of Christ. His love of the Lord will be remembered by his family.
He is survived by his wife, Beatrice, of the home; four sons, Earl Bales and wife, Sherry of Butler, Oklahoma; Larry Bales and wife, Glenda of Elk City, Oklahoma; Doyle Bales and wife, Susan of Sayre, Oklahoma; and Gene Bales and wife, Jolene of Sayre, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
Services were held April 14, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. in Rose Chapel, officiated by Truman Tell.
Interment followed in the Berlin Cemetery, Berlin, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.
