Jack Ray Nelson passed and went to be with his Lord on August 6, 2020 in Rattan, Oklahoma.

He was born on June 3, 1940 to Homer Nelson and Opal Mae (Dobbs) Nelson at home Miller, Oklahoma, with his grandmother Clarissa Diane Blankenship Nelson assisting with delivery. Jack attended the Cloudy Baptist Church and had lived in Southeast Oklahoma most of his life. After his retirement from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation in the early 2000s, he enjoyed spending his time fishing, visiting with his friends while they drank coffee at Pruett's, talking with the boys, and reading books.

Jack was a proud veteran of the United States Navy.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents: Homer and Opal Nelson; brothers: Marion Nelson, Pete Nelson, and Leroy Nelson; and sister: Dorothy Mae Fleming.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Lou Nelson of the home; children: Shane Nelson and wife Trina of Rattan, Oklahoma, Brad Nelson and wife Lawana of Durant, Oklahoma, Billy Jack Nelson of Rattan, Oklahoma and Ricky Nelson and wife Tammy of Antlers, Oklahoma; brother: Terry Nelson and wife Sue of Sulphur Springs, Texas; sister: Jo Nell Burgess of Grove, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Shannon and Tate Rodgers, Cooter and Jacie Nelson, Shancy Nelson, Brody and Melissa McClellan, Shelby and Brianna Nelson, Trey and Shannon Wood, and Ty Nelson and Candice Burch, Taylor Nelson, Tara Nelson, Dalton Nelson, and Dakota Nelson; great-grandchildren: Makenna Rodgers, Kace Rodgers, Karter Nelson, Khloe Nelson, Spurley Nelson, Bella Self, Case Pate, Jasper Pate, Bridger McClellan, Elijah McClellan, Tinley Nelson, Masyn Nelson, Kyle Rawls, Addilyn Rawls, and Tripp Anderson; as well as a host of family and friends.

Service will be held 2:00 PM, August 11, 2020, at the Victory Assembly of God Church in Rattan, Oklahoma.

Interment will follow at Darwin Cemetery in Darwin Community.

Family night will be held from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM, Monday, August 10, 2020 at the Serenity Funeral Service Chapel in Antlers, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Serenity Funeral Service in Antlers, Oklahoma.
