Jerry Dean Dobbs was born on September 15, 1938 in the Darwin Community, near Antlers, Oklahoma. Jerry worked with his father in the family business of spreading lime on pastures throughout Pittsburg and Atoka Counties.
 

He proudly served in the U S Navy for several years.

Jerry also drove a taxi cab in McAlester to earn extra money. He enjoyed driving lime trucks and working with his Dad. Jerry had many good friends that helped him work in the life insurance sales business. He was promoted to district supervisor of the McAlester and Antlers areas.

Jerry was very interested in business and later owned two nightclubs in McAlester. He was also a cattle order buyer while living in Antlers.

The latter part of his life, Jerry was a general contractor in Bastrop, Texas where he completed his work life.

Throughout his life, Jerry enjoyed hunting and fishing, spending time with family and friends, playing many sorts of games and fun activities, especially at family reunions.

He was instrumental in starting Calvary Baptist Church in Antlers and Pine Country Baptist Church in Bastrop. He was baptized in Darwin, Oklahoma.

Jerry went home to be with the Lord on the evening of April 20, 2020, while at the Stilwell Nursing Home, Stilwell, at the age of 81 years, 7 months and 5 days.


He was preceded in death by his four brothers: Clyde Dobbs and Eugene Dobbs of Antlers, Ray Dobbs and Donald Dobbs of Bastrop, Texas, his son: Jerry Lynn Dobbs of Tulsa, sister: Fern Sloan of Antlers, son-in-law: Gary Tibbit of Stilwell and parents Andy and Ruby (Waller) Dobbs.


Jerry is survived by his sons: Mitch Dobbs and wife Chandel, David Dobbs, daughters: Gwynn Dobbs of Springfield, Mo., Donell Tibbit of Stilwell, Raedean Kester and husband Kenny of Stilwell, sisters: Edith Chitwood of Savannah, Juanita Danberger of Bastrop, Fay Zeman of Bastrop, 13 grandkids, 13 great-grandkids, four great-great-grandkids, many cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
 

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 25, 2020 at Lakewood Baptist Church, Antlers, with David Dobbs officiating.

Interment followed at Darwin Cemetery, Darwin, under the direction of Roberts/Reed-CulverFuneral Home, Stilwell.
