Shawnee resident Christine Rolette, 79, died Saturday, July 28, at her residence.

She was born June 2, 1928, in Avery, Okla., to Fred and Amelia (Gokey) Grant. She attended Happy Valley school.

Christine was married to Lawrence Rolette.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Sallateeska Southern Baptist Church and the Sac and Fox Nation.

Christine enjoyed sewing, gardening, and spending time with family.

Preceding her in death were her parents; brothers. Ulysses S. Grant and Chester Grant; sisters, Viola Spoon, Elsie Johnson, Freida Blanchard Wise, Lorena Ponkilla; and son, Gary Rolette.

Surviviors include her husband, Lawrence; daughters, Sandra Rolette McCellan and Tammie Grant; five grandchildren; 13 grandchildren; sister, Elizabeth Exendine; brother, Jerome Grant; numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.

Tribal Rites and burial will be held Tuesday morning, July 31, at Wakolee Cemetery.
