Mollie Jane Roberts Wisdom

February 09, 1894 ~ November 17, 2000

Mollie Jane Wisdom of Tecumseh died Friday in Tecumseh at age 106.

She was born 9 February 1894, in Brown, Oklahoma Territory. She was the daughter of John Asbury and Nancy Jane (Ivester) Roberts.

She attended school at Centerpoint. Mrs. Wisdom was reared on a farm near Brown, west of Tecumseh.

On December 22, 1909, she married William Newton Wisdom in Brown. He preceded her in death on Dec. 3, 1955.

A homemaker, she also worked with her husband in his shop in Shawnee tailoring men's clothing. She worked in clothing alterations for 50 years.

She also worked at Star Cleaners and Greene's. Mrs. Wisdom was a member of the Christian Science Church and Tecumseh Senior Citizens' Center.

She also was preceded in death by her daughter, Levada Smith; son, William Andrew Wisdom; sister Elizabeth Shirey and two brothers, Bill Roberts and Dee Roberts.

Survivors include daughter-in-law, Beverly Wisdom of Lovington, N.M.; three grandsons and their spouses, Bob and Cookie Smith of Wills Point, Texas; Andrew and Pauline Wisdom Jr. of The Pl., VA; John and Sandy Smith of Shawnee; granddaughter and spouse, Andrea Lee and Ken Burt of Lovington, N.M.; eight great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 9:30 a.m. Monday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with Marthabelle Morris officiating. Burial will be at Tecumseh Cemetery.
