William "Bill" Straughan

William "Bill”" Straughan, age 83, of Tecumseh, OK passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 in Oklahoma City.

He was born May 20, 1938 in Shawnee, OK to Lloyd “Spy” and Hazel L. (Patterson) Straughan.

Bill was a lifelong resident of Tecumseh, OK.

He attended Tecumseh Public Schools and graduated from Tecumseh High School with the class of 1956.

Bill married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Nova Dean Beavers in Shawnee on February 27, 1959.

He worked for Tinker Air Force Base and retired from there with over 35 years of service. After retirement he spent over 10 years with the Firelake Golf Course.

Bill was a member of the Tecumseh Alumni Association, Broadway United Methodist Church in Tecumseh and was a member of the Tecumseh School Board for several years, ending his time on the board as President.

He enjoyed golfing, woodworking, coffee with friends, and spending time with his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. Bill was known by many names over the years such as, Angel, Rooter-Tooter, Fluff and PaPa.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Nova Dean; son, Van Straughan; and his parents.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sister, Patsy Straughan of Tecumseh; daughter, Terri Straughan of Tecumseh; granddaughter Jenny Houck and wife Tay, of Moore, OK; grandsons, Tanner Thompson and husband Mike, of Fayetteville, NY and Bradley Straughan of Shawnee; great grandchildren, Zayden Houck, Nova Houck, Sapphire Straughan, Ragnar Straughan, and Leon Straughan; and many other family and friends.

The family will gather to meet with friends on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cooper Funeral Home. Memorial Service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at Cooper Funeral Home with Deena Ford officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh. Please join the celebration of Bill’s life through Cooper Funeral Home’s Facebook page for live streaming of the service.

The family has designated donations be made to The Tecumseh Alumni Association in Bill’s honor as appropriate for memorials.
