Leslie D. “Spooter” Smith, 88, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma passed Sunday, February 4, 2018 at his home.

He was born June 20, 1929 to Morris “Coon” and Elizabeth “Lizzie” (Main) Smith in Tecumseh, Oklahoma.

Leslie grew up in Tribbey, Oklahoma and graduated from Tribbey High School.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged on November 6, 1946.

Leslie married Wanda L. Lessley on February 5, 1950 in Tribbey, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on December 25, 1993. He later married Mary Brown on February 23, 1998 in St. Louis, Oklahoma.

He retired from Tinker Air Force Base as a supervisor.

Leslie was a member of the church and attended worship service at Tribbey Church of Christ most of his life. He lived his life to honor his Lord and Savior, as an example to his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda L. Smith; twin infant daughters, Kathy and Karen Smith; his parents; siblings, Doyle Smith, Vearl Smith and Emeline, Veachel Smith and Jouetta, Patricia Keas and Fred, Cleo “Doc” Smith and Eula and Dale Smith.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary Smith of the home; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Leona Smith of Tecumseh, OK and Gary and Dana Smith of Ada, OK; 1 daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Kurt Shirey of Tecumseh, OK; 9 grandchildren, Joshua Smith, Tamra Bess and Jamie, Matthew Smith and Ana, Tige Shirey and Amanda, Kyle Shirey and Joey, Heath Shirey and Misty, Brandon Chad Smith and Bonnie, Chad Eric Smith, Lindsay Watkins and Gary; 18 great-grandchildren, Natalie Smith, Jeremy Smith, Macie Bess, Alleya Smith, Shade Smith, Caeden Shirey, Kayson Shirey, Kyler Shirey, Kruz Shirey, Daceé Ferguson, Ethan Shirey, Zant Shirey, Malorie Smith, Madelynn Smith, Joseph Smith, Colton Smith, Kaley Watkins, Noah Watkins; sister-in-law, Carroll Smith; 2 brothers-in-law, Sammy Lessley and Johnny Sedlacek; and numerous, nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 6, 2018. Informal Visitation and Celebration will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Cooper Funeral Home with Tige Shirey officiating. Graveside service will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
