Dixie Joann Thomas Ranes

Dixie JoAnn Ranes, age 88, lifetime resident of Pearson, OK, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2023 in Oklahoma City.

She was born on September 10, 1934 in Pearson, OK to Jack and Mary (Douglas) Thomas.

Dixie was born and raised in Pearson, OK. She lived in Pearson her entire life except for a brief period of time when she lived in California.

Dixie attended school in St. Louis, OK and graduated from St. Louis High School. She also attended Oklahoma A & M.

Dixie married Robert "Bob" Ranes in California, then moved back to Pearson to raise her son.

She was a produce manager at Stone's Grocery Store. Later she became a gas meter repair woman for ONG. Dixie also was involved with many programs for the Oklahoma Extension Service.

She was a very active member of Romulus Baptist Church where she taught four generations of Sunday School, played the piano and prepared the Sunday bulletins. Dixie loved being active in her church. She also loved being actively involved with the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter #67. Everyone enjoyed her visits when she would take orders, and deliver, their famous homemade fried pies. She enjoyed quilting and canning and was very passionate with her sewing for her entries into the county fair.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers; and 4 sisters.

Dixie is survived by her son and daughter in law, Terry and Leah Ranes of Tecumseh; granddaughter and spouse, Ashley and Bucky Maston of Shawnee; great granddaughter, Bailey Maston; sister and brother in law, Glenda "Sue" Berch and Frank, of Tecumseh; many nephews and nieces; her Eastern Star Family; and many other loving family and friends.

Visitation will be 12:00 Noon to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2023 and 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, February 27, 2023. Eastern Star Rites will begin at 10:45 a.m. and funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at Cooper Funeral Home with Larry Sparks officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
