Arlyn C. Patterson, 88, of Shawnee, Oklahoma passed away Monday, March 12, 2018 in Oklahoma City.

He was born 5 miles North of Konawa at his grandfathers home on October 14, 1929 to Squire Jackson and Mae Belle (Wolfe) Patterson.

Arlyn was raised in Konawa until his family moved to Tecumseh where he attended Tecumseh Public Schools.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from March 28, 1951 until he was honorably discharged on December 29, 1952.

After service to his country he moved to Southern California where he went to work in Commercial Construction. He built many schools, banks and hospitals during his career until his retirement in 1979. After his retirement he moved back to Oklahoma and settled in the Bethel Acres area to be close to his parents where he has since lived.

He worked at the Tecumseh Water Plant and as a Bus Mechanic for Shawnee Public Schools until he retired for the second time. After his second retirement he enjoyed working with hands and built his own log home. He was a proud member of The Citizen Potawatomi Tribe. He loved to go hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 5 sisters, Deloris Lamirand, Betty Moon, Violet Moore, Patricia Foughty and Diana Patterson.

Survivors include his daughter, Diane Jones of Checotah, OK; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Lorie Patterson of Konawa, OK; 4 grandchildren, Charles Justin Bowles, Terry Keith Bowles, Christy Denise Wilson and Chelsey Danae McGee; 6 great-grandchildren, Kade, Kinley, Kyndell, Cassidy, Alli and Denver; sister, Martha Clement; and other extended family and friends.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 15, 2018 and from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Friday, March 16, 2018 at Cooper Funeral Home. Graveside Service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 16, 2018 at Tecumseh Cemetery with Reverend Mike Craig, Temple Baptist Church in Shawnee officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
