JAMES C. "JIM" EDGIN, JR.

September 17, 1925 - May 17, 2018

James C. Edgin, Jr. “Jim”, was born September 17, 1925 in Macomb, OK. He was the eighth child of nine, born to James C. “Skeet” Edgin, Sr. and Maudie Mae (Eads) Edgin. Jim passed on Thursday, May 17, 2018, in Shawnee, OK.

Being raised on a farm and being a very hard worker, he milked cows twice daily until he convinced his parents to sign for him to join the Navy while he was still under aged. He served in the US Navy, retiring after 20 years of service. Jim was multi-talented, and a jack of all trades, working at a variety of jobs after his military career. Some of his endeavors included air craft mechanic, builder, realtor, crop duster pilot, pilot flying for the DEA, and movie star. He worked on the set of the film Tora! Tora! Tora!, as an aircraft mechanic and ground choreographer, and appeared in the film with a few lines. Regarding his responsibilities with the movie, Jim quoted to the Phoenix Arizona Republic newspaper in August, 1970 that “he lived for adventure and challenge.” He said many times that he had a great life and always got to do what he wanted to do.

Jim married Martha Ann Tingle and they had one son, Justin “Clay” Edgin. He later married Mary Maddox Edgin and lived in Mesa, AZ for many years. Mary passed in February 2017.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 30 years, Mary; and his eight siblings, Clara Rosier, Zollie Edgin, Mabel Bizzle, Tootsie Theron, Max Edgin, Woodrow Edgin, Winifred Fidler, and Gore Edgin.

Survivors include his son, Clay Edgin, and wife Becky of AR; step daughter, Karen Lyons of Mesa, AZ; grandsons, Justin and Jennifer Edgin of McLoud, OK and Jacob and Corie Edgin of Edmond, OK; granddaughter, Marty Edgin of AR; step grandsons, Hunter Aquilera and J.D. Aquilera of Mesa, AZ. and four great-grandchildren, Morgan, Katelyn, Tara and Paisley Edgin.

Burial will be in Tecumseh Cemetery, Tecumseh, OK under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home.
