John Earls, Jr., 82, lifelong resident of Tecumseh, Oklahoma passed from this life Monday, August 2, 2021 at his home.

He was born November 4, 1938 to J.C. and Nora (Branson) Earls, Sr. in Tecumseh, Oklahoma.

John was raised in Tecumseh where he attended New Hope and Tecumseh Public Schools. He graduated with the class of 1956 from Tecumseh High School.

He married Betty Jo Dement on November 1, 1958 in Chandler, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on March 22, 1997.

John worked for Rock Island Railroad, later going to work at Tinker Air Force Base and retiring after 27 years of service in electrical accessories. He along with his wife owned and operated Cedar Hill Farm & Garden and he worked as a Star Route Contractor with the Post Office.

He was a member of the Tecumseh Lodge #69, A.F. & A.M., Scottish Rite 32 degree Mason and a member of the Tecumseh Alumni Association.

John was a baseball and basketball coach and Sunday school teacher. He loved his family and was a cattle rancher for life “Cedar Front Farms”.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Betty Jo Earls; his parents, J.C. and Nora Earls, Sr.

Those left to cherish his memory are his 2 sons and 2 daughters-in-law, David and Lori Earls of Tecumseh and Larry and Tammy Earls of Tecumseh; grandchildren, Lindsay Earls and Chris Skinner, Lacey and Chris Azbell, Zac and Emma Earls, Casey and Johnny Sharp and Rikki Earls; great-grandchildren, Savannah Azbell, Cole Azbell, Eloise Skinner and Jasper “J.C.” Earls; special friend, Shirley Fritzler; and many loving friends and extended family.

Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 5, 2021 and 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 6, 2021 at Cooper Funeral Home. Service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 6, 2021 at Sharon Baptist Church with Reverend Clint Dawkins, Sharon Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
