MARY YUVONNE SHIREY
1938 - 2016


Mary Yuvonne Webb Shirey, 77, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma passed away Monday, April 25, 2016 in Shawnee.
She was born October 17, 1938 to Samuel “Doyle” and Ellanore “Ellie” Shelton Webb in Tecumseh, Oklahoma.
Mary was raised in Tecumseh and attended Tecumseh Public Schools. She graduated from Tecumseh High School with the class of 1956.
She and her family moved to California in 1959 and for 14 years she helped run the family trucking business. In 1973 they moved back to Tecumseh, Oklahoma where she again helped manage a family trucking business, as well as managed the restaurant at the Shawnee-Tecumseh Livestock auction. In 1977 they moved to Laverne, Oklahoma owned and operated a bowling alley. She moved back to Tecumseh in 1982 and later went to work for Anthony’s of Shawnee in 1984 now known as Stage stores until she retired in 2008.
Mary was a longtime member of the Church of God in Tecumseh.
She enjoyed working in her garden, spending time with family and watching her grandchildren play sports. Mary was a sports fan and especially loved the Los Angeles Lakers and her favorite player, Kobe Bryant.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Doyle and Ellie Webb and brother, John Webb.
Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Vicki Rodgers of Shawnee, Ronda and Brad Stark of Shawnee and Terry and Craig Rodgers of Tecumseh; seven grandchildren, Stephanie and Nic Anderson of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, Jennifer and Jeff Patton of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Jerome and Amy Rodgers of Katy, Texas, Corey and Natasha Rodgers of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Courtney Stark of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Amber Stark of Moore, Oklahoma and Alanna and Kent Grigg of Cushing, Oklahoma; twenty one great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and other extended family and friends.
Visitation will begin 9:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 27, 2016 and continue through service time. Family gathering will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 27, 2016 to meet with friends and family at Cooper Funeral Home.
Service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Sharon Baptist Church with Reverend Clint Dawkins officiating.
Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
