MARY LOU HIGHFILL
1933 - 2008


McLoud resident Mary Lou Hargess Highfill departed this life Friday, October 31, 2008, at the age of 75.
She was born in Kansas City, Kansas July 13, 1933, to her late parents Mary Edith Koirtyohann Hargess and Oscar Hargess.
Mary Lou Hargess married Guy O. Highfill September 24, 1954, in Kansas City, Missouri. Together they had four sons and two daughters.
Mrs. Highfill was an accomplished artist for Hallmark Cards in the early 1950's. She was also an avid genealogist and member of Daughters of The American Revolution, Daughters of Colonial Wars, U. S. Daughters of 1812, National Society of New England Women, National Society of Colonial Dames, Daughters of American Colonists, Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War and Huguenot Society of the Founders of Manakin. She was also a member of the 'Ravenous Readers' of the McLoud Library.
She is remembered for her love of reading, genealogy, her creative hand-made crafts and sunbonnets as well as her role as an extremely devoted mother and grandmother.
Her husband, Guy O. Highfill, preceded her in death on June 21, 2008.
She is survived by her son, G. David {Joyce} Highfill of Guthrie; son, G. Thomas {Linda} Highfill of Caryville, Tennessee; daughter, Joyce Marie {Denise} Highfill of Edmondl daughter, Julia Anne {Lorrin} Ching of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii; son, G. Wesley Highfill of Sand Springs; son, G. Matthew {Anita} Highfill of Tecumseh; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A private service will be held.
