ROBERT F. EVANS OBITUARY

ROBERT F. EVANS
1924 - 2008


Shawnee resident Robert F. Evans, 84, passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2008, at a local hospital.
He was born May 12, 1924, in Clyde, Ohio, to Frank Lincoln Evans and Laura NanEarl Forgerson Evans.
He graduated from Central High in Tulsa, received his B.A. from O.B.U., and Master’s from Southwestern Baptist Seminary in Fort Worth.
He married Norma Sue Francis in 1946.
He was in the U. S. Army during World War II in the Philippines.
He was an ordained minister and served as a Minister of Education for Southern Baptist Churches for forty years. He retired in 1990.
He had been a member of the Kiwanis and Lions Club. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, photography and was a master gardener.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, Jean Ashworth, Janet Williams and Carol Brake.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Evans of the home; three children, Robin Scarberry and husband Terry of McLoud; Donna Shaw and husband Bryan of Lindsay, Oklahoma; David Evans and wife Becky of Erie, Colorado; five grandchildren, Luke Freeman, Robert and Jamie Shaw, David and Hillary Shaw, Mandy and Mike Roper, and Adam Meehan; two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Caleb Roper; one sister, Rachel Proy of Sandusky, Ohio; one brother-in-law, Clyde Williams of Owasso; and several nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 18, 2008, at Walker Funeral Service Chapel with Bryan Shaw and Gerald Jones officiating.
Burial will be at Dale Cemetery.
