EMMA JEANNE EDIE
1922 - 2008


Asher resident Emma "Jeanne" Blevins Edie, 86, went on to walk with the Lord on Saturday, November 15, 2008 in Tecumseh.
She was born August 28, 1922 in Oakland, Iowa, to Thomas Jefferson and Jennie Elizabeth Bowman Blevins.
She was reared in Oakland, Iowa and moved to Liberal, Kansas in 1950. She moved to Tecumseh in 1972 and had resided in Asher since 1979.
She was Salutatorian of her graduating class in Oakland, Iowa. She earned her Teacher's Certificate in 1940 from the same school.
On July 6, 1941, she married Charles "Chuck" Edie in Rockport, Missouri. He preceded her in death on February 14, 1987.
Mrs. Edie was a homemaker. She loved to read and travel. Her family was the focal point of her life. She lead a Christian life and taught her children to love and follow the Lord.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Luella Dreyer.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Katherine Edie of Shawnee; and Michael and Carolyn Edie of Asher; daughters and son-in-law, Vickie Orth of Asher; and Roxie and Richard Gilpin of Tecumseh; eleven grandchildren; thirty one great grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.
Service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at Cooper Funeral Chapel with Tony Black, pastor of Romulus Baptist Church officiating.
Burial will be at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
