AGNES MARIE CARTER
1911 - 2005


Shawnee resident Agnes Marie Benton Carter, 93, died Tuesday, March 1, in a local hospital.
She was born April 13, 1911, in Wanette to Oliver and Francis Benton.
She graduated from St. Benedict High School in 1930.
She worked for the county clerks office and Lewis Pottawatomie County Abstract office in Shawnee.
She was a member of the St Benedict Catholic Church, Altar Society and Prayer Line.
She was married to Kenneth Carter October 3, 1936, in Holdenville. He preceded her in death in 1995.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and five brothers; Anthony, Robert, Clarence, Elbert, Joseph, and Oliver Jr. and one sister, Mary Cunningham.
Survivors include one son and daughter -in-law, James and Beverly Carter of Corinth, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law Janet and Lewis Hullum of Shawnee; one granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Kim and Alan Jones of Corinth, Texas; one sister, Dorthy Buchanan of Shawnee; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A wake service will be 7:00 p.m. today at the chapel of Walker Funeral Service.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held noon Friday at St. Benedict Catholic Church with the Rev. Marurus Jaeb, O.S.B., officiating.
Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Walker Funeral Service is directing arrangements.
