NORMA ADELINE WALDEN

20 Dec 1931 - 2 Jan 2017

Norma Adeline Walden was born on December 20, 1931, in Prague, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Monday, January 2, 2017, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 85.

Norma, the daughter of Henry Clay and Grace Mabel (Guffey) States, was a resident of Muskogee, Oklahoma. Norma married Carmon "Bill" Walden on March 7, 1949 in Van Buren, Arkansas. The last years of her life Norma was a resident of the Eastgate Health Care Center in Muskogee, where the staff treated and loved her so much. She cherished her friendship with co-nursing home residents Mary, Dot and Billy. Norma was a faithful member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. The greatest joy of Norma’s life was her grandchildren. She loved her pets and was an avid basketball fan. Norma was a firecracker, who made it a point to be at every sporting event that her grandkids participated in, and she made her presence known being the loudest person in the stands. She loved life and was her happiest when she was with her family, whether it was at a sporting event, singing to her grandkids or if it was simply sitting in her living room or around the kitchen table.

Norma's parents, husband and two brothers Bob States of Prague and John States of Lenapah, Oklahoma preceded her in death.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law Tim and Vicki Walden of Carson, Oklahoma; daughters and son-in-law Cecelia and Gary Stodola of Carrollton, Texas, Brenda Brashears of Warner, Oklahoma; brother Pastor Jerry States and wife Pat of Shawnee; sister Velma Harris of Prague; five grandchildren, Lisa, Shayne, Summer, Jared, and Destria; twelve great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild and many other family and friends.

The Walden family will receive friends on Thursday, January 5, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 6, 2017 at 2:00 PM, at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague with Pastor Perry Flerchinger officiating. Interment will follow at Little Cemetery.
