Darden Lee "Dorothy" Collins Smith

Darden Lee “Dorothy” Smith, 97, longtime Seminole County resident, went to be with our Lord and Savior on November 20th at Avonlea Cottage of Seminole, OK. She was born December 24th, 1920 in Konawa, Oklahoma and preceded in death by her parents William Albert Collins,Jr. and Willie Leona Greer and four beautiful sisters, Mildred, Ruth, Jean and Jerri. Dorothy grew up in Konawa and graduated from Konawa High School.

She married the love of her life, Edward Glenn Smith and enjoyed 53 years of marriage before Glenn’s passing in 2003. Glenn gave her the nickname of “Doll”. She is survived by their three children; Lynda Sims of Seminole, Oklahoma, Glen W. Smith and his wife Bonnie of Edmond, Oklahoma and Karen Luce and Chris Custard of Flower Mound, Texas, five grandchildren; Kristin & Michael Haskins, Jill & Jeff Ferrell, Josh & Lindsey Smith, Scott & Cindy Luce and Brian Luce and 9 beautiful great grandchildren; Blake Haskins, Harper Haskins, Connor Flournoy, Greyson Ferrell, Bailey Ferrell, Kade Smith, Knox Smith, Devon and Ryleigh Luce and their grandmother was known to them as “ Moppy”.

As a 4th generation Seminole resident, Glenn and Dorothy were active members of the Little community and attended the Church of Christ at Little. Their love of Oklahoma ran true to the core, as they dedicated their lives to continuing the dairy and farm operations on the 112 year old Centennial Farm and Ranch in Little, Oklahoma. Their farm is one of the two Certified Centennial farms in Seminole County.

Dorothy, was a loving mother and grandmother and held a love for tennis, loved to go on trail rides, fishing and her bible study with the Tuesday morning “Ladies Bible Class” at the Church of Christ at Little, where she attended church. She served as an insurance agent for the Oklahoma Farmers Union Insurance Company and served on the Seminole County Election Board for many years, she was the Tag Agent in Seminole for many years and served as Secretary-Treasurer of the Strother Volunteer Fire Department.

A celebration of life will be held in her honor at the Church of Christ at Little on November 24, 2018 at 10:30 A.M., with Larry Vickers officiating and the burial will be held immediately following at Little Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
