Barbara Kay Rhodes Kessinger

Barbara Kay Kessinger, 72, of Shawnee, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at her home.

She was born July 15, 1947 to Otto and Gertie (Jett) Rhodes in Charleston, West Virginia.

Barbara was raised in Clio, West Virginia and graduated from Walton High School West Virginia. She lived most of her life in Clio, until moving to Oklahoma in 1979 and settling in Shawnee in 2013 where she has resided since.

She married Donald Ray Kessinger on December 9, 1994 in Meeker, Oklahoma.

Barbara worked as a cook at the Meeker Nursing Center for many years.?? She enjoyed crocheting, watching the squirrels and animals outside her window and loved going to church.

She was preceded in death by her father, Otto Rhodes; mother, Gertie Rhodes Bevel; brother, Coy Rhodes; and sister, Nellie Hubbard.

Those left to cherish her memory are husband, Donald Kessinger of the home; 3 daughters and 1 son-in-law, Donna and Vernon Hasbell of Shawnee, OK, Regina Hough of Strongsville, OH and Elizabeth Barnes of Shawnee, OK; 1 son and 1 daughter-in-law, Donald and Trish Waybright of Parma, OH; 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters, Mary Ann Lowery of Ft. Worth, TX, Alice June McCune of Amna, WV, Betty Belcher of Seminole, OK and Janet Holbert of Lafayette, OH; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.

Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m., Monday, August 26, 2019 and continue through service time. Family gathering to greet friends and family will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, August 26, 2019 at Cooper Funeral Home. Service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at Johnson Church of God with Pastor Charles Wayne Green officiating. Burial will follow at Johnson Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
