BETTY ANN AKIN

11 Mar 1938 - 24 Mar 2017

Betty Ann Akin was born March 11, 1938 in Newcastle, OK to Theodore “Ted” and Frances McMillin. She died on March 24, 2017 in Midwest City, OK. Betty was simply the lady everyone wanted to be around. She had a great sense of humor that would light up a room and bring a smile to anyone’s face. Betty was known for many things, but her chocolate pies and great advice would cause you to stand in line to enjoy. She was a fantastic mother and an extraordinary grandmother. She absolutely adored her grandchildren, rarely missing any of their events. Her day would always brighten at any opportunity to spend time shopping, especially when she found the bargain. Betty retired in 2012 after serving more than 27 years in Civil Service at Tinker Air Force Base. She attended Howard Memorial Baptist Church.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents and sister Barbara Keen. She is survived by her husband, Don; sons, Brian Akin and Gary Akin and wife Tresa; grandchildren, Gary Jr. (or as she called him, “Little G”), Chad, Steven, and Brittany; and a sister-in-law, Joyce Wyatt.

Betty’s family would like to express their gratitude for Dr. Stephen Hamilton and staff at Optim Oncology as well as Nurse Cathy and staff at Hospice Quality Care for the extraordinary care given.
