Willie Ray Gibson

Willie Ray Gibson, 66, lifelong resident of Little Axe, Oklahoma passed away Sunday, December 11, 2022 in Norman.

He was born December 14, 1955 to Isaac and Loucetta (Blanchard) Gibson, Sr. in Edmond, Oklahoma.

Willie attended Noble Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1975 from Noble High School.

He married Goldie Huff and she preceded him in death in February, 2019.

Willie proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged.

He worked in pipeline repair and replacement in construction as a heavy equipment operator.

Willie was a proud member of Absentee Shawnee Tribe. He loved playing softball and honoring tribal traditions.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac and Loucetta Gibson, Sr.; his wife, Goldie Gibson; and sister, Janice Davis.

Willie is survived by 2 sisters, Norma Gibson of Little, Axe and Donna Warrior of Norman; 2 brothers, Isaac Gibson, Jr. of Little Axe and Ron Gibson of Little Axe; many nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.

Tribal Rites will be Tuesday evening, December 13, 2022 at Absentee Shawnee Tribe Community Center in Little Axe with George Blanchard officiating. Burial will be Wednesday morning, December 14, 2022 at Absentee Shawnee Tribe Burial Grounds in Little Axe under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
