Services for William Harold Walker, 94, of Ada are 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Southwest Church of Christ, Brian Lewis will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
Mr. Walker passed away Monday, October 22, 2018 at Ada Care Center. He was born September 16, 1924 to W. E. and Dovie Athey Walker at Henryetta. After living in Wyoming and Oregon for a short period of time, the family returned to Ardmore. Harold graduated from Ardmore High School and attended the University of Oklahoma while working at WNAD radio station. He later accepted a job at KWSH radio station in Wewoka and KTEN television station in Ada. Harold was employed by KTEN for over 50 years and enjoyed being a part of rapidly changing technology in the industry.
Harold married Una Watson June 9, 1944. Byron Walker was born in 1946 and Wayne Walker was born in 1957. Harold and Una were married for 68 years until her passing in 2012.
Harold joined the Oklahoma National Guard, 45th Infantry Division and was assigned to the Korean Conflict in 1950. He was sent with his unit to Korea where he served as a radio technician. After returning from Korea, Harold and Una made Ada their permanent home.
Harold was a long-time, faithful member of Southwest Church of Christ of Ada and participated in several ministries. Harold led a life of Christian dedication as written in Micah 6: “To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God”.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, W. E. and Evelyn Walker; and his sister, Doris Walker White.
Survivors include his son, Wayne, who has been his loyal care-giver for the last few years; son, Byron Walker and his wife Colleen of Edmond; brother, Don Walker, Garden Grove, CA; and several nieces and nephews in Ardmore, Oklahoma City and California.
